Ducks hoping to forget opener – fast

There’s no need to press the panic button after one game, but the Ducks might want to give the reset button a firm push.
A standing-room-only crowd of 17,281 showed up at Honda Center for the opener Saturday hoping for more moments of revelry at the expense of the rival San Jose Sharks, the team their heroes bounced from the Stanley Cup playoffs in the first round last season.
Instead, the Ducks were serenaded with boos from a frustrated faithful that started heading for the exits at the second intermission. The 4-1 loss to San Jose was that ugly and that one-sided.
So how did Ducks coach Randy Carlyle spend his early hours Sunday? He put in the videotape, jumped on his stationary bike and dissected the carnage.
“I’ve had a little stress with my morning,” Carlyle quipped.
All joking aside, it might be the right time for the Ducks to leave the scene of Saturday’s crime as they fly out to begin a four-game trip that starts Tuesday in Minnesota and works its way to the East Coast.
