<p>On paper, when the Sharks dealt for Dany Heatley from Ottawa just before training camp opened, the move seemed to be a no-brainer. Heatley was one of the NHL&#8217;s great scorers. And he would be paired on the same line with Joe Thornton, the NHL&#8217;s best passing center. What could go wrong?</p>
<p>Plenty.</STRONG><BR><BR>This morning, with the Sharks atop the league standings and Heatley on pace for a 60-goal season, it is easy to say that there were no worries about whether he and Thornton would mesh. But the fact is, in those first days after Heatley&#8217;s arrival, an anxiety factor did exist. Sharks coach Todd McLellan is honest about that.</p>
<p>&#8220;We had hoped it would work the way we wanted it to work,&#8221; he said Monday. &#8220;But there are no guarantees. You have an elite scorer and elite passer.
